Our Story
The story of Favorite Plant Place begins with its founder, who grew up on a small farm in rural Illinois, surrounded by fields of corn and soybeans. Despite this agricultural backdrop, her interest in horticulture was sparked early on by her grandmothers, both of whom had green thumbs. Throughout her childhood, she cultivated a passion for plants and gardening.
In high school, her journey into plant care took a significant turn when she received a large number of surplus plants from a landscape designer. With guidance from a dear friend, she planted them all in her mother's backyard. As she watched these plants thrive and grow over the years, she found immense joy and fulfillment in nurturing them.
Over the next two decades, her collection of plants expanded to several hundred specimens, each carefully tended with love and dedication. This accumulation of botanical treasures became the foundation for Favorite Plant Place. Now, with a wealth of knowledge and experience in botany, she is eager to share her passion with others who visit her establishment.
Favorite Plant Place is not just a business but a culmination of a lifelong love affair with plants, rooted in family tradition and nurtured by years of hands-on experience.
